Multi-billion-dollar company. Best-selling franchise. And they’re charging real money for this post-launch microtransaction filler.
The official line from EA/DICE execs (like Rebecka Coutaz and Andrew Wilson in recent interviews)? “Generative AI is just for early concepts and efficiency to give creatives more time!” Yeah, sure. We all know the real script: Investors and bosses hear “AI” and demand faster content floods, bigger margins, and “synergies” (code for layoffs). Fire hundreds of artists (EA did 300+ in 2025 alone), hire cheap “AI-savvy” juniors to prompt and “clean” hallucinations, rush seasonal bundles to keep the live-service hamster wheel spinning. Result? Slop slips through because “good enough” for shareholders, not players.
The insane part? They’re not even using AI for what they claim: “improving processes.” It’s straight cost-cutting disguised as innovation. Say “efficiency” to the board, and suddenly Q4 expectations skyrocket: More skins! Faster updates! Cheaper production!
